Have Forza Let Slip?

At Walton Bridge Garage we know a thing or two about cars, especially when it comes to a top quality MOT and service. However when it comes to the official specs of the latest supercars yet to be released, we’re in the dark just as much as the next person.

Luckily we’re as much a fan of the next gen games consoles as we are next gen supercars and, fans of the Forza Motorsport franchise will know, they may have let something slip in their latest demo.

Forza 6 is on its way and the anticipation has been building to an extreme level. So the release of the demo will have had fans all over the globe, buckling themselves in for a serious dress down of what the latest game will bring to the table.

One other highly anticipated release is that of the next generation Ford GT which, up until this point, had been kept fairly under wraps by Ford. All we did know was that they only plan to release a slim 250 each year and that the 3.5 litre twin-turbo V6 would hit “over 600bhp”, but this is no longer the case.

According to the new Ford GT’s specs page on the Forza 6 demo, the car will be pushing out 630 horsepower with 539 pound-feet of torque. That’s 130 horse power more than the last model and at 2,980 pounds, it’s a good bit lighter as well. However the new Ford GT will still be somewhat shy of its competitor the Ferrari 488 GTB and the McLaren 675LT when it comes to power and performance figures.

These figures could be an unfortunate slip of the tongue by the guys at Forza, or some temporary guestamates by a games company wanting to release their demo on time. But whether you’re happy or upset about the latest Ford GT figures, or the latest offering from Forza for that matter, it’s important to keep one thing in mind. The latest Ford GT is still under development and some way away from production ready. Forza is also at the demo stage and will no doubt be undergoing continuous development before its final release. So there is still some time left for things to change and horsepower to head north in a bid to compete with the supercar sector’s other big hitters.
